Our philosophy
We have the right to an education which promotes resilience, develops skills for lifelong learning and respects our individuality
Our staff
The multidisciplinary team includes teaching staff, support workers, learning assistants and a home school liaison officer as well as management and administration onsite.
Our support
Flexible and responsive methods are used within the service to support school aged children with additional support needs, experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties through onsite and outreach provision.

The philosophy of Clackmannanshire Schools’ Support Service (CSSS) is underpinned by the Children’s Charter, GIRFEC values and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our focus
is placed upon creating individualised proactive support packages for pupils to maintain their mainstream placements. This is achieved using a continuum of support methods.PLACES ARE ALLOCATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SCHOOLS
A limited number of places are available within the support base to support pupils off site and facilitate their return to mainstream schools wherever possible.
csss
FEEDBACK IS ONGOING
All places are allocated in partnership with the mainstream school and contact between CSSS and the mainstream school remains frequent throughout. CSSS offers regular communications and feedback to the pupil’s original school throughout their time at CSSS
A MORE SUPPORTED ENVIRONMENT
Children attending the base for part or all of their school week, will experience a similar curriculum to their peers but in a more a supported environment.
DIGITAL LEARNING
We have introduced a focus on digital learning, with pupils in CSSS primary and secondary having iPads and tablets embedded in their learning
PARTNERSHIP WORKING
Staff work very closely with other agencies to provide an appropriate education package for each individual.
GIRFEC (GETTING IT RIGHT FOR EVERY CHILD)
Pupils who require this level of support are identified through the staged intervention process and places are allocated through the GIRFECScreening Groups.
