At CSSS our vision is clear: to ensure every pupil gets the right to an education which promotes resilience, develops skills for lifelong learning and respects their individuality.
Our secondary provision
The secondary provision for Clackmannanshire Schools’ Support Service is based in its own school building in Bedford Place, Alloa. From here, we support secondary aged pupils with a range of additional support needs. This support may be through outreach provision to an individual , family support or for those who require more intense support an offsite placement may be requested.
It is always our aim to support children and young people to remain within their mainstream school and local community. Such interventions are bespoke to the individual pupil and school and are designed to promote resilience and emotional intelligence. We also work closely with schools to provide training for staff.
CSSS provides individualised education programmes for each pupil that allows them the opportunity to progress towards and attain their full potential. Our school provides every pupil with an Individualised Education Plan each term to maximise success in areas of Literacy, Numeracy and Health & Well Being.
Pupils learn in small group environments which allow them to thrive and gain the skills required to reintegrate into mainstream education which is our long term goal for all.
As well as providing a broad, general education within the framework of Curriculum of Excellence CSSS also gives our pupils the opportunity to achieve a wide range of individual and group awards. This includes ASDAN awards and short courses as well as John Muir and Eco Schools awards.
For our senior phase secondary pupils there is the opportunity to attain certification in a range of subjects with the new SQA National awards. In addition to this we provide pupils with a large range of learning experiences from indoor rock climbing and bikeability to equine therapy and skiing.
